About us

It is the Danish sculptor Jens Galschiot and his art workshop (Art in Defence of Humanism, AIDOH who is behind the "" project.

SevenMeters is not the first global project to be initiated by the organisation, but it will most probably be the most extensive!

Galschiot thinks of art as non-verbal communication, and he often uses his art to make international art happenings to put focus on defenders of humanism. He usually uses his sculptures as artistic manifestations.
In the case of SevenMeters, it is red LED lights that will be most appearent. He funds his art events himself mainly through the sale of bronze sculptures to art collectors, and he is therefore completely independent from political, economic and religious interests. Due to the extend of (which cost quite a bit to run) the project has recieved funds from Peoples Climate Action in Denmark, and hope to be sponsored by different "green" companies and private donors.

Galschiot and have made big happenings before. The latest was in 2008 when the project The Color Orange highlighted the violations of the human rights in China on the occasion of the Olympic Games in Beijing August 2008.The idea was both sophisticated and simple: to introduce The Color Orange as a symbol of the protest against the human rights violations in China.

The strict censorship can ban the use of obvious symbols of human rights, but the use of The Color Orange cannot be banned. So we will encouraged sports people and spectators to make vast and creative use of the color for clothing and all sorts of accessories. It could be anything, like an orange hat, camera bag, tie, pen, paper, dress, suit, bag etc. Even peeling an orange will be considered a poignant statement.

Besides the Color Orange, Aidoh has done a lot of happenings, activities and projects. Jens Galschiot is married to Colette Markus who works with gestalt therapy and coaching. Together they have three sons.

7M will take action during huge Demo on December 12

Having hung up some 20 kilometers of blinking 7-Meter line, we are continuing our actions during the big demonstration on December 12 (Saturday).

Heavily armed group steals equipment for 7-meters line!

Everything was going as planned as our two brave volunteers Le Pierre and Sofus took a break after having hung up kilometers of red blinking LED-lights to mark the SevenMeters water-rise if all Greenlands ice melts. But then...
