Avaaz.org was planning a cometogether to gather activists and others for music and beers. We were asked if we could help out with the decoration as we had a lot of blinking lights. The American exchange-students that were working for Avaaz.org also helped us putting up 7-meter lines in Copenhagen.
Back in on November 2009, Reersoe House of Culture made an art exhibition with the themes of art and climate. Amongst other art pieces several SevenMeters-sculptures were exhibited along with a blinking 7-meters line.

Se llevó a cabo con mucho entusiasmo SevenMeters in México, específicamente en la ciudad de Xalapa, Veracruz. El proyecto es iniciado por el escultor danés Jens Galschiot y gira entorno a la amenaza catastrófica del clima que se avecina si no actuamos al respecto. El 12 de Diciembre, día en que se estaba realizando la gran manifestación en Copenhague, en México se llevaba a cabo la adaptación del proyecto por el joven artista Emmanuel Cruz, quien actualmente labora en el taller de Jens Galschiot.
El punto de encuentro fue la zona Universitaria, en donde se encuentran dos símbolos importantes de la ciudad y de la identidad mexicana y prehispánica, la escultura del águila dorada y el gran palo de los voladores de Papantla: el águila fue iluminada de rojo y el palo volador fue marcado por siete luces rojas parpadeantes a cada metro de distancia, como símbolo de alerta, llegados los siete metros fue realizado un ritual por un oficiante volador, dirigiendo su energía a la toma de conciencia sobre la situación climática, todo emergiendo del color rojo, el cual simboliza para la filosofía indígena el punto cardinal del este y el nacimiento del sol, el cual con su fuego, luz y vida limpia los males realizados por el hombre.
Dicha manifestación fue muy concurrida y novedosa para la ciudad.
Nuevos medios vanbuscando ciencia, artes y gobiernos con elementos alternos porque el clima está cambiando si el calor sigue aumentando la historia dará patética constancia de nuestra ética más puede haber redención con una revolución por artística y energética. Manuel Mungía Castillo Escritor.

De vandrende flygtninge er en del af SevenMeters.net. Formålet med initiativet er, gennem forskellige kunstinstallationer, at sætte fokus på konsekvenserne af den globale opvarmning. Kunstinstallationerne belyser klima-forandringerne fra forskellige vinkler.
Rising the statue again after it had nearly drowned
The sculpture ’Survival of the Fattest’ is a symbol of the rich world’s (i.e. the fat woman, Justitia) self-complacent ‘righteousness’. With a pair of scales in her hand she sits on the back of starved African man (i.e. the third world), while pretending to do what is best for him.
Climate changes are caused by the western world, but the consequences hit the third world hardest. Even so, we are not willing to give up our way of life or make real changes. The poor countries are willing to do, comparatively, far more to lower CO2 emission than the western world. Still, the west all too often argues that they will have admissions and promises of further CO2 reductions from China, India, Russia and other countries that emit (and always have emitted) far less than the western world.
The little Mermaid is a fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen and one of the most important symbols in Denmark. It is a part of the Danish idea of themselves as a small, cosy nation where the living is good, but where we are also doing our bit to help the world that surrounds us. This is, of course, only a fairytale.
The western world and the Danes sit like the mermaid on the rock or like the fat lady in a safe distance from the water level. Happy and assured that they have the capital it takes to prevent that the climate changes hit us. Meanwhile, island states around the world are being flushed away, while hurricanes, drought and hunger hit the rest of the world, especially Africa. But, we continue to sit on our rocks convinced that the 200 million climate refugees the UN foresee in 40 years will not affect us.

‘Freedom to Pollute’ is a smaller replica of ‘The Statue of Liberty. The sculpture is more than 6 meters tall.
Smoke comes out of its torch every couple of minute and is a reminder of the Western World’s immense overconsumption and pollution that has caused the current climate crisis.

The sculpture The Messenger The sculpture is around 4½ meters tall and was originally used for focusing on the debt burden of the poor countries, but is reinterpreted to focus on the state of the Earth (Gaia). The sculpture illuminated with the red light, coordinated after the geological ‘pulse’ of the Earth.

The concrete construction with the buttresses carrying the Metro and the water pond are illuminated with red LED light. The color in the concrete constructions and the water change slowly from red to neutral following a sort of sinus curve, congruent with the geological ’pulse of the Earth’.
The calculation of the breath is made by geologist Bo Holm Jacobsen, who says: ”The strength of the light modulates from the surface of the Earth’s position, i.e. maximum brightness when the surface is up, and minimum brightness, when the surface is down. I have reconstructed the signals, which our seismographs give, namely the speed of the surface of the Earth.”
The light-installations are meditative and give the concrete constructions and the area around the water a whole new aesthetic dimension. The purpose is to create a cathedral-like building, bathed in red.
Interactive pulse: During COP15 the pace of the ‘pulse’ will change according to the achievement at the Summit. Like a medical measuring of the heart rate at an intensive care unit, the essential pulsation is still the one of the Earth (Gaia).
We’ll make a sort of a rating of the results of each day’s negotiations. NGO’s observing the negotiations will make their evaluation of the achievements. The rating is then entered to the computer controlling the breath. So the breath can be speeded up by about 30%. Anyway, it will still be perceived as slowly pulsating.

From 7th to 20th December, it's possible to see the 24 kilometers of red blinking LED-lights in 7 meters height in the streets of Copenhagen.
7 Meters is the height with which the water will rise if all the ice in Greenland melts.
The 7 Meters line is a manifestation that, using red blinkingLED-light, symbolize that we are going towards a climate catastrophe. And that our politicians (and thus their voters) are not doing enough to meet the threats of Global Warming.
The purpose is to send a visual statement about the enormous consequenses our actions will have in the long run.
