How much will the water really rise? |

It is not a secret that the sea levels will rise by much less than 7 meters, at least over the next century or so. Still, since we started SevenMeters, the scientific numbers for the water level has been rising quite a lot. UN says up to 2 meters rise before 2100, which will be plenty to cover Bella Center (where COP15 was held), and Bangladesh. Still there is a long way to 7 meters.
You should see SevenMeters not as a scientific project but as an art project. A visualization to point out that we are affecting the climate and our planet in ways that are difficult to comprehend and that will change the world as it is. It is on purpose that the line is 7 meter as it is a number that everybody can agree on (Greenland’s Ice) and does not lead to a discussion about how many centimeters water will rise etc. That discussion is blurred enough already and too many people believe they can fully understand the scientific explanations, which not even the smartest scientists can fully comprehend. 7 Meters takes point of departure in the fact that waters are rising, and that more than 93 % of the worlds 'climate'-scientists (i.e. the ones who should know most about the subject of climate changes) say we are in grave problems.
We actually had very positive response on the line and as good as no negative whatsoever, so I think that people had the reaction we'd hoped for.
So does this make us vulnerable to criticism of alarmists? Maybe, but it was exactly the self-censorship during the days of climate-skepticism BUSH) that led to scientists under estimation of the problems. This show as good as all the estimates of climate-changes in the 2007 IPCC-report has actually shown to be too low compared to newer reports from IPCC.
